A Smart Home consists of smart connected devices and appliances that act based on the home resident’s desires and behaviors, to maximize their comfort.

The Department of Energy’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) has recently started a Smart Power Lab at its Energy System’s Integration Facility in Boulder, Colorado to develop and test technologies that would enable the Smart Home of the future.
